Goodwill Boston Job and Training Fair October 14, Plus an MBTA Info Session October 20
BOSTON, MA — Two dates on Harrison Avenue are worth circling this month. The Goodwill Boston Career Center hosts an in-person Job and Training Fair on Wednesday, October 14, then follows it six days later with an MBTA information session on Tuesday, October 20, aimed at anyone who wants a job with the T and doesn't know where to start.
One afternoon for meeting employers, one morning for cracking the MBTA's application process. Registration is required for both, so sign up before you make the trip.

The Job and Training Fair: October 14
The Job and Training Fair runs from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., a late-afternoon window that works for people coming off an early shift or a morning class. The pitch is simple: meet employers face to face, hear what they actually look for in a candidate, and look at both open jobs and training programs in the same room.
Goodwill has not published an employer roster for the fair, so we won't guess at one. What the career center does publish is a running list of high-priority openings from its employer partners. Right now that list includes ramp supervisors and operations agents, preschool and school-age teachers, afterschool group leaders, medical assistants, personal care assistants, health aides, transportation associates, and seasonal tax preparers. That's a useful signal for what kinds of work are in demand, not a promise of who will have a table on the 14th.
The training half matters, too. If you're switching fields or don't yet have the credential an employer wants, this is the place to ask what a program costs, how long it runs and where it leads.
The MBTA Information Session: October 20
The MBTA session runs from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Treat it as a working session rather than a job fair. Per Goodwill's flyer, it covers how to find MBTA openings, how to set up a candidate profile, how to move through the application process, how to strengthen your application materials, and how to stay on top of future postings.
That's valuable because the T hires across a wide range. The MBTA careers page currently lists openings for safety professionals, engineers, service technicians, rail vehicle maintenance technicians, nurses and budget analysts, and it highlights bus operators, automotive service technicians and transit police. The session itself is not described as an interview day, so don't expect an on-the-spot offer.
⚠️ Read This Before You Go
- Register for each event separately. Both list registration as required, and Goodwill says a business services advisor reviews each registration.
- No virtual option. Both events are in person only.
- Two different events, two different goals. The 14th is about meeting employers. The 20th is about learning one employer's application process.
Looking for something bigger later in the month? MassHire Downtown Boston's services and support job fair on October 21 is the next stop on the calendar.
